About Me

Jason Trinidad playing an acoustic gutiar

Greetings! I'm Jason Trinidad, a proud native of beautiful and sunny Puerto Rico. With a rich background spanning over a decade in software development, I've immersed myself in various programming languages and frameworks. However, my true passion lies in the dynamic realm of application security. My journey into the captivating world of AppSec began during my Master's studies at George Mason. What started as a convenient elective course quickly became the most enriching and rewarding class of my academic journey. With over 5 years of hands-on experience in Professional Services and as a Sales Engineer for leading AppSec vendors, I've honed my skills and expertise to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of application security.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Bayamon Campus

Master of Science in Computer Science - George Mason University

During my undergraduate studies, I developed a keen interest in controls and robotics, and I participated in a research project focusing on calculating the level of asymmetry of Africanized honey bees using the Procrustes method.

Additionally, my master's degree allowed me to deepen my knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence, further enhancing my skills and expertise in the field.

Experience

I have over 10 years of experience working as a Full-stack software engineer. My expertise includes various technologies such as computer vision, thick client applications, databases, AWS, application security, robotics, and more. I am proficient in languages like C/C++, C#, Java, Matlab, and Python.

For the past 5 years, I have been working with application security vendors. This includes 3 years with Fortify and 2 years with Checkmarx. In these roles, I assisted customers end-to-end on their application security journey. I helped deploy the tools, integrate them into their CI/CD pipeline, consulted on improving their AppSec processes, and advised on prioritizing vulnerabilities. I am passionate about being a sales engineer and enjoy providing customers with the value proposition of the tools.
